Greetings PageTurner.net Family and Friends,
Well, summer is here and it is HOT here in Texas! We hope your 4th of July includes friends, family, barbeque, homemade ice cream, watermelon, "red soda water" and all the things that bring back your favorite childhood memories. And since you have an extra few days off, I hope that you have picked up a great book to sit and read while you relax.
What's on my night stand? I am currently reading Baggage Claim by David Talbert, The Reckoning by Jeff Long, and listening to The Artifact by Patrick Astre. For you Techies out there I am also reading Macromedia Flash Professional 8 Beyond the Basics Hands-On Training. My next planned read is Three Sides to Every Story by Clarence Nero.
Last Month our book club, The Good Book Club Houston, was featured on the Bookclub In Your Pocket Show, a podcast presented by Tricom. We discussed George Elliott Clarke's "George & Rue" with the author. Be sure to check it out (you don't have to have an iPod, you can listen to it on your PC.)

PageTurner.net would like to welcome it's newest web site clients..
www.sisterbetty.com Pat G’Orge (pronounced Gee-or-jay) - Walker is in a league of her own. This accomplished Christian author and comedienne has an amazing mind and talent for turning her observations of church and black church life, in particular, into gems of sidesplitting humor. It is her own special gift from God that enables G’Orge-Walker to depict the often ridiculous antics of church folk. She does it without subverting the Good News or watering down the potency of its message.

The Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship will enable writers of color to attend one of the Clarion writing workshops, where Octavia got her start. It is meant to cement Octavia's legacy by providing the same experience/opportunity that Octavia had to future generations of new writers of color. In addition to her stint as a student at the original Clarion Writers Workshop in Pennsylvania in 1970, Octavia taught several times for Clarion West in Seattle, Washington, and Clarion in East Lansing, Michigan, giving generously of her time to a cause she believed in. The first Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship will be awarded in 2007. We'll announce details of the application process later this year. Our goal for a fully endowed scholarship fund is $100,000. At this time, we welcome your tax deductible gift of any amount to this fund. Please use the button to the left of the page to donate via PayPal or a major credit card. If you'd prefer to make your donation in the form of a check or money order, please make it payable to "The Carl Brandon Society" and note that it is for "The Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship Fund."

Eight-time New York Times bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey’s new novel is filled with intrigue, speed, and sex appeal. And an unforgettable female narrator rides her sexy yellow motorcycle right through it all.
Billie (aka "Ducati") is known as much for her extraordinary beauty as for the sexy yellow motorcycle she rides through the mean streets of Los Angeles. Tough, talented, and self-assured, Billie's used to doing things her way—but that was before love threw an oil slick in the road and spun her life into chaos.
Billie's first problem is simple: she's pregnant.
Her second problem is that her lover, Keith, is still married.
Keith has some "things" to deal with, and the people in his life are dark and duplicitous enough to take matters into their own hands, determined to keep Billie from having her baby. Billie suddenly finds herself confronted, attacked, run off highways, threatened and shadowed. Keith still has ties to his manipulative wife, Carmen, and he adores his fifteen-year-old daughter Destiny. Will he do the right thing by his new family, or stand by his old one?
Soon all eyes shift as everyone finds themselves desperately chasing Destiny, a troubled and deceptive girl dancing on the edge of womanhood. When the rubber meets the road, everyone's fighting dirty for what they want...and they're all willing to destroy their enemy or go down in flames to get it.
